PAGE 5 - My favorite shots with the GF1 next---->
I had the GF1 for just under 3 weeks and during that time, I shot with it almost daily. Here is a collection of some of my favorite images. All images were shot with the Kit Zoom mostly between F4-F5.6 at ISO 100-200. Also, as I do with all of my images, these were post-processed in photoshop CS3, but VERY little was done to these. In some, colors were pumped up, in others, color was toned down. Other than color, some have had slight level adjustments.
I love the color of the GF1.
Ladybug Season is here.
Pretty much straight from camera. The GF1 exposure, color, and sharpness are amazingly good. This was shot using the “STANDARD” film/color mode.
Again, the color and tonality is great. This image had some slight vignetting and some color boost added.
Took a walk through the cemetery and found this grave marker.
Caught a sweet moment as my son was petting our cat under the dining room table. This was shot as color, but I desaturated in photoshop and that was it.
Went for a walk with my wife on a rainy day and converted this one to B&W with Nik Silver Efex pro. I have to say, if you want superb B&W conversions, then BUY SILVER EFEX PRO! It’s the best.

This is one of the first shots I took with the GF1. I love fall and I was actually lost when I found this side road that eventually led to a very small country town in Southern Ill. I liked the way this road looked, so I got out and snapped this with the GF1 at 14mm (28 Equiv). I also shot it with my M9 and 35 Summicron, but this was the day that all of my M9 files disappeared from the SD card. Still, I love this version, and it looks great printed.
When I shot these, I usually had my Leica M9 strapped on to me and I would take the same shots with the Leica. I can honestly say that the GF1 shots took less processing to get them to where they look really good. For a couple of these, I actually preferred the GF1 images to the M9 version. Wow. That says a lot.
I love my M9 to death, and went broke to buy it, but I have to give credit where credit is due and this little GF1 and kit zoom lens proved it has some really good IQ (Image Quality). On top of that, after 3 weeks, I can say that I prefer the Panasonic GF1 to the Olympus EP1 AND the Leica D-Lux 4 for overall image quality. I still prefer the D-Lux 4 for its size, style, and great color signature.
